The Chairman for the California SAR Navy Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) and the Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC) Programs is Kevin Forrest.
The SAR Sea Cadet Medal Ribbon Bar and Bronze Good Citizenship Medal are presented to outstanding cadets nominated by his/her Commanding Officer. The award is in recognition of the cadet’s Leadership, Military Bearing, Excellence of Character, Scholarship and Citizenship.
The Sea Cadet Medal Ribbon Bar contains the blue, buff and white colors of the NSSAR Rosette which are reminiscent of the colors selected by General George Washington for the Continental Line uniform. The Bronze Good Citizenship medal is struck on a circular planchet. The obverse inscription reads “Good Citizenship Medal” and depicts a Minuteman holding a rifle, with a plow and the Liberty Bell in the background. The reverse is inscribed “Our inspiration is from the past, our duty is in the present, our hope is in the future.” The medal is suspended from a drape of the SAR colors. A certificate of recognition accompanies the medal.
NSCC and NLCC Unit Commanding Officers may nominate one cadet per year exhibiting the exemplary qualities worthy of receiving the Sea Cadet and Navy League Cadet Award. The Sea Cadet Chairman of the nearest Sons of the American Revolution chapter should be contacted to arrange for presentation of the Sea Cadet Medal Ribbon Bar and Bronze Good Citizenship Medal. Be sure to notify the Sea Cadet Chairman far enough in advance of the presentation to allow for the preparation of a certificate.
Note: The cadet commanding officers are to follow the Sea Cadet Awards Manual when nominating cadets for SAR awards. Per Awards Manual, Chapter 4, Section IV.
